Solarogen produces and sells two main types of Pond Treatment products for use as algaecides and parasite treatments. Choose either from our Copper Sulfate Fine Feed Grade in 9.99 or 50-pound buckets or our Solarobac 5000 in water soluble packets which is a benefical bacteria used as a water clarifier and as a tool to reduce pond sludge.
Feed Grade Copper Sulfate Copper salts are typically used as a preventative measure against the growth of algae in water sources but can also be used in fountains, ponds, and other water sources. They are used to combat green slime and other algal blooms in agricultural ponds, rice paddies, irrigation and drainage canals, streams and pools. Another common use for these chemicals is as a pesticide for the control of mollusks.
Although every situation is different and you should first read the warnings and indications on the labels. Use with caution in ponds that contain fish because overuse can cause a sudden algal die-off which will deplete O2 levels in the water and cause the fish to asphyxiate. The three most common modes of application are shown below:
Copper Sulfate Pond Treatment products should be maintained in a cool and dry area away from direct sunlight. Keep containers of this Pond Treatment chemical sealed well. Solutions of Fine Feed Grade Copper Sulfate should be stored in tanks made of 316 Stainless Steel or plastic tanks.
When a mechanical separation system isn't economical or simply impractical, Solarobac 5000 is a great option for water clarification. Our American made blend of Solarobac 5000 Beneficial Bacteria contains strains of live bacteria that digest sludge and reduce dissolved organic particulate. The result: clean and clear pond water. Our proprietary blend of beneficial bacteria remains dormant until it is added to the pond. Once they are immersed in the pond water they become active and start to consume the organic substances responsible for cloudy, hazy pond water. Solarobac 5000 will not create a "rotten egg" odor which is caused by the build-up of toxic hydrogen sulfide.
